To open a Checking Account, just stop by one of our branch locations and follow these three easy steps:

  • Complete the signature card

  • Deposit a minimum of $50.00

  • Order your checks. Choose from a variety of styles and patterns


MoneyStar Money Market

Enjoy the convenience of a Checking Account with the higher dividends of an investment account. You can make up to six withdrawals per month, with up to 3 by check.


VISA® Check Card

With the VISA® Check Card, you have the convenience of using a card that accesses your Checking Account. Use your VISA® Check Card at any location that accepts VISA®, sign and your transaction will clear your account just like a check. Your transactions will appear on your checking statement. You can also use it for Point-of-Sale transactions.

To apply for your VISA® Check Card, visit one of our branch locations or call us at (832) 201-0190 or (800) 256-5918 to obtain the signature request.

Now you can swipe, insert, tap or wave your card to make purchases.

• Activate your new card immediately by following the instructions included with your card.

• Be sure to destroy your old card upon activation of your new card.

• Your old card will no longer work starting October 4, 2021.

IMPORTANT:

If your check card is used to pay for internet services, insurance, etc., you will need to provide your new card number to these merchants so your service is not interrupted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use the contactless functionality for all of my purchases?

A: Contactless payment availability may vary depending on terminal enablement, merchant preferences, transaction location or purchase amount. You may also be asked for your signature or PIN in some cases. 

Q: What if a merchant's terminal does not accept contactless payments? Will my card still work?

A: Yes. Insert the EMV card, or swipe the magnetic stripe like you would have done with your previous card. Online purchases work the same as with your previous card. 

Q: Does my chip card work at the ATM?

A: Yes. You can still use your card to get cash, check your balance and more. 

Q: How can I tell if a card or payment terminal accepts contactless payments?

A: Both the card and the terminal will have the contactless symbol noted. 

Q: Where can I use my dual interface card?

A: Use your dual interface EMV chip card at the same places you do now. Tap or insert your card at EMV enabled terminals, or swipe your card at terminals that have not yet switched. You can use your card as you did before for online payments, telephone payments and at ATMs.
